A Perfect Day in Page, Arizona

What to see and do with a 24 hour stop in Page, just a few minutes from the Utah border!

Horseshoe Bend

It is 100% worth it to be here for sunrise or sunset. Otherwise half of Horseshoe Bend will be in shade, making it hard to see the full canyon and bending Colorado River. The entrance fee is $10 and only good the one time. It’s a 20 minute walk from the parking lot, so take that into account if you are short on time. There is an official lookout space with a fence when you arrive at the canyon, however there are views to behold in either direction. There’s also a more expansive view from the hill to the right.

Glen Canyon Dam

The 710 foot Glen Canyon Dam was built in the 1950s to generate electrical power from the Colorado River. It resulted in Lake Powell, one of the largest man-made reservoirs in the country. Just 5 minutes from downtown Page, there is a viewpoint to see the dam in all its glory. Might as well witness what amazing engineering can do if you are in town!

Lake Powell

Lake Powell is a very popular spot during the summers, attracting up to two million people annually. The marinas not only house boats, water toys and cruises, but also have bars and outdoor restaurants. It’s definitely a party destination in the warmer months. In the winter months, there is still some activity, but it is peaceful and quiet. Unless you are on a kayaking mission to see Antelope Canyon!

Antelope Canyon

As one of the most visited slot canyons in the world, Antelope Canyon has been attracting more adventurers every year. The narrow sandstone rocks were formed by erosion, flash flooding and then smoothed over time by wind. There is both an Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon, both with pros/cons. Book a tour when the canyon reopens, or spend a half day kayaking from Antelope Point Marina. Click here for more information on this unique experience.

Food

For sustenance in between views and activities. Ranch House Grille is a good spot for breakfast. Birdhouse is fried-chicken perfection to go. A local’s favorite tavern State 48 will do the trick for dinner.
