Six Reasons Why Mexico City Should Be Your Bachelor/Bachelorette Destination

1. Time/Location

Mexico City is a good long weekend destination! 3-5 days is enough to get a feel for the city (a month wouldn’t be enough time to see everything!)   If the Bride or Groom have friends all over the US, this is a fairly central location and there are direct flights from all major cities.

2. Budget

No complaining about costs here!  The average price per night for an entire apartment on Airbnb is $75. A hotel will be more, but not by much. It’s easy to Uber and most rides cost $3-$5 throughout the city. Museums, attractions and casual meals won’t reach $10.

3. The Food

There are some incredible fine dining restaurants in Mexico City: Pujol, Dulce Patria and Quintonil are just a few.  You can make a night of it, get dressed up and have the full foodie experience.  OR create your own food tour, star some taco destinations on Google Maps, and then you and your friends can eat your heart out at food markets or street food vendors. Catering is also very inexpensive for a night in!

4. Bars/Dancing

For a night out, there are some incredible cocktail bars: Xaman, La Clandestina, Baltra, as well as rooftop destinations: Contesa DF, Balmori Roofbar or Toledo Rooftop. Or charm a local into sharing the password for a speakeasy like Hanky Panky. Dancing is part of Mexican culture and there are plenty of clubs that play top hits or opt for a salsa club like Mama Rumba. Not for the timid, but locals are very gracious if you’re willing to learn!

5. Activities

Groups can take a bike ride, head to the Teotihuacan Pyramids, bring a picnic to Chapultepec Park or book one of the many local tours offered.  With a mild temp year-round (70s-80s), outdoor activities are always an option and most hotels and airbnb’s have pools.

6. Mexico City is Photogenic

Bold colors, architectural designs, cacti and murals all make fantastic backdrop photos. The House of Tiles, Zocalo square, Luis Barragán homes, Chapultepec Castle, and the Frida Kahlo Museum are all worthy kodak environments.
