Annual National Park pass – If your sights are set on the seeing all five Utah parks, the America the Beautiful Pass should be the first item! It’s worth the money if you’ll be visiting more than two parks over the course of one year. You can buy it online from different retailers, but REI is usually a reliable seller.
Traction device – ideal for any snow treks. Yaktrax are awesome as they are inexpensive and fit over sneakers or hiking boots.
Backpack – this is necessary for hiking or day trips. My Sweaty Betty has come in handy. Also consider a waterproof version if you are planning any kayaking or river activities i.e. The Narrows in Zion.
Headlamp – an item you will want for any sunrise or sunset walks. The Alipret brand has different light modes and is rechargeable.
Hiking Boots – a shoe that supports your ankle and has traction. My KEENs are awesome!
Fleece-Lined leggings – leggings in general are great because you can layer them. BALEAF and Ewedoos are two brands that have winterized their leggings.
Hand Warmers – stock up on these! They are a life saver when it’s chilly out. They can also be used as feet warmers if it’s a particularly cold day.
Face Mask – keeping your skin hydrated is especially important during the winter. To prevent dryness and stiffness, buy a moisturizing face mask for your trip. A favorite hydrating mask is Summer Fridays.
Portable Charger– You’ll be out and about during the day and taking lots of photos. Keep an extra charger available if your phone dies. This one has a long charge and a double USB port.
Layers, layers, layers! Bring a warm waterproof coat, athleisure clothes, leggings and sweaters, hats, gloves and scarves. For more inspiration check out my 10 Day Itinerary and why it’s worth bundling up in the winter in the first place!
