London is one of my favorite cities, and while you could easily fill a week exploring its endless sights, the English countryside is well worth adding to your itinerary. Estelle Manor offers the idyllic blend of historic charm and modern comfort, set just outside the Cotswolds and within easy reach of the city.
Estelle Manor opened in 2023, preserving its original 20th-century architecture while offering modern luxury. The property features 108 uniquely designed rooms, each combining classic elegance with contemporary comfort. Thoughtful details, like vintage-inspired cabinets and retro radios, add character, while plush furnishings and high-end bathrooms provide a relaxing retreat after a day of exploring.
Think of a classic hunting lodge with a mix of outdoor adventure and laid-back leisure. In the warmer months, guests can enjoy seasonal activities like lawn games and outdoor sports screens, plus fishing and boating just off the property. Year-round, there’s archery, air rifle shooting, clay pigeon shooting. And with even more activities in the works, there’s always something new to try. An on-site activities coordinator is available to help tailor the perfect experience.
Estelle Manor will send you an email with a portal and options for reservations.
For those who like to stay active, the gym and studio offer 37 classes a week, plus padel courts for a friendly match. Next to the gym, a charming gift shop carries manor-specific finds, elegant clothing, jewelry, and a selection of curated keepsakes.
Beyond the manor, the Cotswolds are waiting to be explored. Wander through storybook villages, discover hidden walking trails, and soak in the peaceful countryside. And if history is your thing, Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just a short trip away.
Take a dip in the state-of-the-art gym, rejuvenate at the Roman-inspired Eynsham Baths. 3,000 sq metre Roman-inspired spa offers bespoke healing for the skin, psyche, and soul. Please note that unless your room rate states otherwise, access to Eynsham Baths, including the Thermal Journey experience, is £95 per person. The Contrast Therapy moves guests between six different thermal areas, from a Frigidarium to Caldarium, Tepidarium to Hay Sauna, stimulating the body’s immune system and metabolic rate, while soothing the nervous system or simply curl up with a book by the crackling fireplace in the grand library.
Tips for Staying at Estelle Manor
- Book The Spa Ahead of Time: Those thermal pools and treatments are calling your name! Don’t miss out – snag those spa appointments in advance, as slots fill up quickly.
- Instagram Inspiration: Estelle Manor’s Instagram isn’t just about pretty pictures (although, there is plenty of opportunity for that). Check their social for hidden Cotswolds gems and unique activities beyond the hotel grounds.
- Pack Snacks: While the hotel boasts exceptional restaurants, there’s no on-site grab-and-go option. Stock up on snacks if you tend to crave something in between meals, or rely on the well-stocked minibar.
- Walking Shoes: The sprawling estate is perfect for exploring. Pack comfy sneakers – you’ll thank me later for those scenic walks around the property.
- F&B Options: With four distinct restaurants, treat your taste buds to a global journey. My personal favorite was the Billiards Room, but honestly you can’t go wrong with any of them.
- Family Fun: Traveling with little ones? There are dedicated kids’ activities and even family hours at the pool. There’s also a workspace and a kids’ club, The Nook.
- A Work in Progress: Estelle Manor is a relatively new property. While the staff is fantastic, there might be a few minor kinks to iron out. Be patient and expect slightly longer wait times on occasion.
- A Manor of Many Rooms (and Cottages): Only a portion of the rooms are actually located within the historic manor itself. The others are nestled in charming cottages or stables nearby. They’re all lovely, so don’t worry about the location – the grounds are beautiful everywhere!
